Brenda displays her still life in our gallery and she has photographed and worked with her medium in new and interesting ways.
A single white rose dominates the foreground, its petals rendered in soft, luminous tones against a deep black surround. The bloom looks almost tactile — velvety, layered, and gently unfolding — catching a focused light that makes it seem to glow from within. A smaller bud sits to the right, upright and expectant, while glossy leaves and a few thorned stems anchor the composition close to the viewer.
Beyond that sharp foreground, the scene falls away into an inky blur. Three tall, indistinct silhouettes stand in the background, their outlines smudged and ghostlike so that they read more as atmospheric impressions than as distinct people. The shallow depth of field and stark black-and-white contrast create a haunting tension: the rose feels intimate and alive, fragile against a mysterious, almost otherworldly backdrop. The overall mood is elegiac — beautiful and quiet, with a hint of unease woven into the darkness beyond the bloom.
