The deep blue of the sea and the sky, the calm and silence, the soothing sounds of wind and water, the vastness of our world and universe. These are the things that inspire me and help me find order in the chaos. They help me to be more present, observant and aware both in the creation of my art as well as in my life.
My work is centered on the natural world and rooted in my personal experiences and views. As humans, we all have unique perspectives on situations and scenes; we are influenced my our memories, beliefs, moods and as such, my photographic art is an expression of myself and immeasurably enriched by who I am.
When I go out with my camera to make photographs I have the mindset of unleashing my creativity through observation and playfulness. I try to slow down, to be mindful and present, and to allow the moment of time and place to unfold. This allows me to see fresh perspectives and the inherent beauty of a scene that others might pass by. If I can create an image that captures even a small part of my sense of awe and wonder of a fleeting moment, and thereby evoke a feeling or emotion to those who view and experience my work, then I have achieved my ultimate goal.
