This is an original pottery piece created by Lyn Anderson

This piece is a beautifully handcrafted ceramic vase, characterized by a conical shape that widens dramatically at the top. The vase’s glaze is a rich interplay of creamy whites and earthy browns, with the upper portion displaying a stunning dripping effect where the lighter glaze cascades organically over the darker base, evoking a sense of natural flow, almost like melting ice or flowing honey.

Below this dynamic glaze effect, the vase's body features a charming illustration, painted with care and a whimsical touch. It depicts a rustic barn, rendered in warm red tones with detailed double doors, set against a backdrop of soft blue sky and fluffy white clouds. This pastoral scene is bordered subtly by small patches of greenery at the base, grounding the barn in a quiet countryside narrative.

Artistically, the combination of dripped glaze and the painted barn draws a connection between the unpredictability and fluidity of nature (suggested by the glaze) and human presence within it (symbolized by the barn). This blend marries abstract texture with folk art storytelling, making the piece both visually dynamic and thematically rich. The vase communicates a peaceful rural idyll while celebrating the organic, imperfect beauty inherent in handmade ceramics.

The pottery is made with midfire Granite cone 6 clay.

The work was created in 2025.

The overall dimensions of the pottery are 12.5" tall by 2.75" wide.

This piece is part of the "Fields of Gold" temporary exhibit. Come and see it in person through the months of August and September 2025.
