This is an original Artwork created by Kelvin Christensen.

This work is created with Acrylic paints on stretched canvas.

A small square painting that feels as if the night itself has been liquefied and set in motion. The sky dominates the scene in layers of cobalt, ultramarine and teal, but it’s not a calm deep — it’s a roiling, swirling mass. Spirals of paint curl outward from several bright, sunflower-yellow and orange orbs; each star is rendered as a glowing vortex, ringed with lighter halos and streaks of white that give them the appearance of spinning suns. A larger, warmer orange globe near the upper right draws the eye like a restless moon.

Below the tumultuous sky, a band of wind-tossed clouds or mountain ridges is painted in frothy whites and pale blues. The brushwork (or pour technique) creates a textured, frothing surface that reads like waves or wind sweeping across the horizon. A narrow strip of deep turquoise separates the horizon from the foreground, suggesting water or a valley lit by reflected light.

In stark contrast, the foreground is anchored by a black, tapering silhouette that leans upward — reminiscent of a cypress or a dark spire. Its jagged, inky form cuts into the luminous sky and grounds the composition, giving it both drama and balance. The bottom edge of the painting is dense with black and midnight-blue swirls, heavy with pigment, that feel like earth turned into shadow.

Overall the piece vibrates with motion and emotion: luminous, turbulent, and almost alive. The colors are bold and the textures thick, so the painting reads as much as a landscape as an expression of energy — a night where wind and light have been painted into swirling music.

This piece was created in 2024.

The size of the piece is 10" tall by 10" wide.
