This is an original abstract Artwork created by Leonard Matte.
He has a write up about the story for his subject matter:
Double trouble is brewing when siblings are waiting patiently for new opportunities and adventures.
This work is created with Acrylic paints on a Double Beveled Gallery Canvas.
The image shows a soft, painterly portrait of two cats nestled closely together, rendered with visible brushstrokes and a warm, textured style. The upper cat is larger and faces forward with a calm, steady gaze; its fur is a mix of gray, white, and brown tones, with bright amber eyes that stand out against the pale face. Below it, partially overlapping, is a second cat whose head is turned slightly downward and to the side, creating a sense of quiet closeness and protection. This lower cat has similarly mottled fur, with a white blaze across the face and a golden eye peeking out.
The background is loose and atmospheric: a blue sky with dark silhouettes of birds in flight, and a suggestion of a fence stretching across the landscape. The setting feels outdoors, breezy, and a little rustic, as if the cats are resting in a farmyard or a countryside field. The whole piece has a handmade, almost pastel-like quality, with an intimate, gentle mood that makes the cats feel both lifelike and symbolic—watchful, bonded, and quietly self-possessed.
Leonard makes the canvases for these pictures himself, they have a double beveled angle that comes out to a point. On these pictures, he has decided to tonally change the colours on the edges slightly to make the picture have the "feel of a frame without a frame".
This piece was created in 2026.
The size of the piece is 30" tall by 30" wide.
