Thick yellow strokes form the overhead foliage, leaving turquoise ground exposed between irregular marks. The paint is heavily built up.

A coarse canvas weave remains visible beneath thin passages, especially across the roadway and sky. Broad loaded brushstrokes define the tree masses, while shorter dabs build the red and yellow leaves. Soft horizontal smears flatten the road into pale blue and gray bands. Raised ridges and opaque layers are consistent with oil paint applied to stretched canvas. Painted light concentrates on the road and open sky, while dark green marks under the canopy reduce illumination beneath the trees.
