This is an original mixed media artwork created by Christel Langan.

Christal has done the majority of the piece in Acrylic, but there are segments where she has used patterned papers to give the piece pops of details and colours.

This image presents a captivating close-up of a cat's face seen through what appears to be a layer of water droplets on glass. The cat's eyes are intensely expressive, reflecting a mix of curiosity and perhaps a touch of annoyance, as if it’s peering through a rain-soaked window.

The water droplets scattered across the image add a dynamic texture, distorting parts of the cat's face in subtle and fascinating ways. Each droplet acts like a tiny lens, refracting light and fragmenting the cat’s features, which gives the image a surreal, almost painterly quality. The detail in the droplets themselves—some sharply defined, others blurred—draws the viewer's attention across different focal points, enhancing the sense of depth.

Artistically, the image might symbolize barriers between perception and reality or the feeling of being observed through a veil. Water and glass often symbolize purity, separation, or cleansing, adding layers of interpretation to the cat’s gaze behind this watery filter.

The interplay of natural softness (the cat’s fur) with the harsh clarity of the water droplets on glass creates a compelling tension, inviting viewers into the intimate yet slightly obscured world of this feline subject.

It is then topped off with a clear resin to make the work glossy and appealing to the eye. The base of this work is on Ampersand gesso Board, and it is coated in Art Resin (Epoxy Resin)

This artwork was created in 2025

The piece is on a birch board and is 16" wide by 16" tall.
