This is an original Mixed Media artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt.
A dramatic mountain dominates the scene, rising sharply into a pale, cloudy sky. Its peak is capped with bright white snow, which drapes over the upper slopes like a thick, uneven blanket. Dark rock breaks through in jagged patches, giving the mountain a rugged, weather-worn look. The lower slopes fade into softer grays and muted earth tones, with the lines and textures suggesting steep ridges and deep creases carved by time and erosion.
The style is painterly and illustration-like, with bold outlines and washed layers of color that give the image a dreamlike, almost hand-sketched quality. The contrast between the snowy summit and the darker, heavier rock below creates a strong sense of height, coldness, and quiet grandeur. The whole composition feels still and monumental, as if the mountain is standing in solemn silence beneath a subdued sky.
This work is done on watercolour paper that is then affixed to a birch panel and coated in a protective wax layer.
