This is a pottery piece created by Elizabeth Schapansky. It is part of the "Mother Earth" series.

A small ceramic bowl, its simple form given all the attention by a richly textured glaze. The bowl has a wide, open mouth and a rounded, gently tapering body that settles into a neat base, giving it a balanced, handmade feel. Its surface is glossy and mottled, with a dramatic blend of earthy browns, smoky grays, deep blues, and rusty orange tones swirling together like a marbled stone or a weathered piece of metal.

The rim is especially striking, with darker bands and irregular glaze accents that catch the light. Inside, the bowl appears more reflective, with pale highlights glimmering near the center and streaks of color flowing down the interior walls. The exterior is more subdued but equally rich, showing the same layered glaze in a softer, more muted pattern.

The overall impression is of a functional object elevated into something artistic—compact, elegant, and tactile, with a surface that feels almost alive in its variation.

The work is made with high fire clay and multiple different glazes.

This work was created 2025.

The overall dimensions of the pottery are 4" Tall by 9" diameter.

This piece is functional and food safe.

This piece is part of the "Beauty of the Rockies" Temporary Exhibit. Come and see it in person through out the months of June and July 2026.
