This is an original pottery piece created by Roger Neufeld.
A small, hand-formed ceramic jar with its domed lid. The vessel is cylindrical and squat, roughly palm-sized, with visible concentric ridges on the inside and a slightly irregular rim that betrays a handmade process. The surface is matte and tactile rather than glossy — dark charcoal and sooty black merge into warmer, rusty-brown streaks and smudges, giving the piece a lived-in, wood-fired look. The lid is rounded with a short knob and shares the same smoky, uneven finish; its underside looks a touch lighter where it would meet the rim.
Overall the object reads as utilitarian and intimate — modest in scale, marked by the fingerprints of its maker and the unpredictable beauty of the firing process.
The piece is made with raku fired clay. The piece was created in 2024.
The overall dimensions of the pottery are 14cm tall with a 8cm diameter.
