This is an original pottery piece created by Roger Neufeld.
A small, hand-crafted cup, Its body is squat and rounded, slightly wider through the middle and tapering a bit toward the rim and base, giving it a sturdy, compact silhouette. The exterior is a deep charcoal or black with a matte, slightly textured finish that suggests stoneware or a rough ceramic clay. Around the sides are several vertical, elongated oval motifs — pale, washed strokes of metallic cream to light taupe — spaced evenly like simple, rhythmic markings; the top edges of those strokes show faint blushes of muted pink or rust, as if brushed on and partially absorbed by the clay. The interior is uniformly dark, appearing glazed and smooth compared with the exterior’s rougher surface. Soft, even lighting casts a short, gentle shadow in front of the cup, emphasizing its rounded form and giving a quiet, handcrafted character to the piece. Overall it reads as an understated, earthy object with a minimal, contemplative aesthetic.
The piece is made with raku fired clay. The piece was created in 2024.
The overall dimensions of the pottery are 11cm tall with a 10cm diameter.
