This is an original artwork created by Larry Reese

Sunlight filters through a small stand of pines, laying long, cool-blue shadows across a snowy forest floor. The painting is loose and tactile — thick, visible brushstrokes build trunks of russet and umber, while the snow is rendered in a chorus of blues, purples, and touches of warm lemon where the light hits. Two large tree trunks anchor the left foreground, a cluster of thinner, leaning trees sits behind them, and a wider thicket recedes toward a pale horizon.

The scene feels quiet and fresh, as if caught on a crisp winter morning. Low scrub and tufts of grass poke through the snow in the foreground, their ochres and browns contrasting with the cooler tones. In the middle distance the trees open onto a sunlit clearing that brightens into a soft, almost glowing band near the horizon, suggesting open land or a frozen pond beyond.

Overall the painting balances shadow and light beautifully: cool, shadowed blues and lavender under the trees give way to warm pale yellows and greens where the sun reaches the snow and pine needles. The brushwork and color choices create a sense of texture and brisk air — a quiet, luminous moment in a winter wood.
