This is a photograph done by Carmen Therriault.

A wide, cinematic panorama unfolds: a vast dome of night punctured by a river of stars. The Milky Way arches from horizon to horizon, its dense core a luminous knot of countless pinpricks and darker dust lanes that give the band texture and depth. The sky graduates from inky indigo at the zenith to a warmer, rosy glow near the horizon, where faint wisps of cloud and airglow mingle with starlight and tint the scene with mauve and pale green.

Below the celestial sweep, a jagged silhouette of mountain peaks rises sharply, their ridgelines and snow-capped faces etched in low light. The peaks sit like a dark backbone against the sky, their forms repeated in the glassy lake that occupies the foreground. The water is so calm it becomes a mirror, doubling the Milky Way’s arc and the mountains’ silhouettes, creating a serene, symmetrical composition.

In the immediate foreground, a rocky shoreline composed of smooth stones and scattered patches of ice anchors the scene. Tiny textures of rock and frozen water add scale and a tactile contrast to the ethereal sky. Along the far shore, a thin line of evergreens stands as a dark fringe, tiny sentinels between earth and cosmos.

Overall the image conveys hush and grandeur at once: a remote, still night where the heavens feel close enough to touch, and the landscape lies patiently receptive, reflecting the slow, eternal sweep of the Milky Way.

The size of this piece is 12X24 and it is printed on metal panel, this makes the stars feel even more luminous in person.
