This is an original pottery piece created by Lyn Anderson

A small, square container its lid removed and propped beside it. The box is roughly palm-sized — you can tell from the scale that it would hold a ring or a few small trinkets. Its exterior has an iridescent, mottled finish: pools of turquoise, rose, purple and copper blend and shift across the flat sides, giving the piece a worn, almost meteor-like patina. The colors are soft where they mix and more vivid along edges and corners.

The interior is dark, appearing almost black, which contrasts sharply with the lively exterior. The lid, set at an angle next to the box, shows a different surface pattern — broader bands of deep blue and white that suggest either a different glazing technique or simply the way the light catches its curves. Subtle highlights and tiny scratches on the metal imply age or frequent handling. Overall the object reads as a small, handcrafted keepsake box with a lot of visual character, its lustrous, unpredictable surface inviting touch and close inspection.

The pottery is made with Raku clay and is Raku fired. The work was created in 2025.

This piece is a raku pottery piece, which means it is decorative and NOT meant for food or water.

The overall dimensions of the pottery is 3" wide by 4" tall.

This Artwork is part of the  "Winter's Gift" temporary Exhibit. Come see it in person during the months of December to January 2026.
