This is a photograph done by Carmen Therriault.

A wide, crystalline night sky dominates the scene: the Milky Way stretches in a luminous, milky band from the upper left down toward the right, a dense spray of stars and dusty nebulae brightening into a concentrated, glowing core. The deep blues of the heavens graduate from near-black at the top to a softer, turquoise-tinged blue nearer the horizon, giving the galaxy a sense of depth and motion.

Below the sky, a low range of dark, jagged mountains cuts a sharp silhouette across the composition. Nestled at the water’s edge is a single small tent, its fabric glowing a warm, saturated orange that contrasts beautifully with the cool tones all around. The tent’s light spills outward and is mirrored perfectly in the still surface of a lake, so the scene reads as a vertical doubling: stars above, mountains and tent between, and their reflection below. The water is so calm it acts like glass, softening the reflected stars and making the campsite feel suspended between earth and sky.

Overall the image feels quiet and vast—intimate human warmth against the immensity of the cosmos. The composition balances scale and solitude: the tiny, bright tent anchors the scene and gives the viewer a place to rest their eye while the Milky Way pulls the gaze upward, evoking wonder and a sense of timelessness.

The size of this piece is 11X14 and it is matted with a complementary blue mat.
