This is an original Acrylic artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt.

A dark, brooding night spreads across the canvas: a wide sweep of indigo and slate blue interrupted by a luminous band of cloudy, milky light that slices diagonally through the sky like the galaxy itself. Tiny pinpricks of starlight are scattered through that glowing veil, and a soft, pale moon peeks out from behind misty clouds, casting a faint, cool halo. The paintwork feels soft and blended in the sky — wispy, textured brushstrokes build depth and give the impression of moving air and distant nebulae.

Along the lower edge, a row of tall, spindly evergreens stands in silhouette, their dark, jagged shapes anchoring the scene and emphasizing the scale of the heavens above. In the immediate foreground, a rocky outcrop with muted browns and subtle highlights suggests rough terrain leading up to the trees. Overall the image conveys a quiet, expansive stillness — a wood at night gazing up at a vast, luminous cosmos, part mystical and part contemplative. A small signature sits near the bottom right, barely noticeable against the dark.

This picture is on stretched canvas.
