This is an original Mixed Media artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt.
A serene rural landscape featuring a freshly harvested field dotted with numerous large hay bales. The hay bales, round and tightly wound, dominate the foreground and recede gracefully into the distance, creating a sense of depth and perspective. Their golden hues contrast softly with the muted green and brown tones of the earth and surrounding vegetation.
The sky above is painted in a gentle gradient of pale blues and soft grays, suggesting either early morning or late afternoon light, where the atmosphere feels calm and the sunlight diffused through thin clouds. Scattered, fluffy, white clouds add to the peaceful and expansive feeling of the scene.
Clusters of trees border the horizon, their shapes blending into each other with leafy textures and varying shades of green. The trees serve both as a natural frame for the field and as a point of transition between the open field and the sky.
Artistically, this image captures the quiet dignity of rural life and the cyclicality of nature’s seasons. The hay bales themselves could symbolize harvest, abundance, and the fruits of labor. The peacefulness depicted evokes themes of calmness, simplicity, and the beauty found in everyday natural scenes.
Overall, this is a landscape painting that balances realism with a gentle impressionistic touch, inviting the viewer to appreciate the quiet, often overlooked beauty of an agricultural setting.
