This is a textile original work created by Margaret Blank.

This is a punched or hooked rug featuring a floral design and part of a brick wall. The texture is rich and tactile, composed of tightly packed loops or knots of yarn, giving it a handcrafted, rustic charm.

Visually, the composition balances vibrant and earthy tones. The flowers themselves burst with lively reds and bright greens, standing out vividly against the muted background. The blue hues of the pot add cool contrast and introduce a calming element, grounding the otherwise warm color palette. To the right, the brick wall graces the scene with its orange-and-brown checkerboard pattern, each "brick" defined with subtle variation in shades, enhancing the dimensionality.

Above the bricks is a series of horizontal beige and dark bands that might represent part of the building's architecture—a window or door frame, perhaps—introducing a geometric, structured aspect to the organic form of the flowers.

Symbolically, floral motifs in textile arts often represent growth, renewal, and the beauty of nature, and the hand-crafted quality of this piece emphasizes care, tradition, and homeliness. The brick wall can further symbolize stability, foundation, or domestic warmth, grounding the lively bloom in a safe, familiar environment.

Overall, the image encapsulates a cozy intersection of nature and home, rendered through the textured artistry of rug hooking, inviting tactile engagement as well as visual appreciation.

It has been created with the method of rug hooking pieces of yarn or strips of fabric in through a backing material. In this case, the backing material is burlap.

This piece was created in 2025.

The dimensions of the art is 10" x 10".

This picture is part of our "Natures Bounty" temporary exhibit, come and see it through out the months of October and November 2025.
