This is a textile original work created by Margaret Blank.
This is a punched or hooked rug featuring a floral design and part of a brick wall. The texture is rich and tactile, composed of tightly packed loops or knots of yarn, giving it a handcrafted, rustic charm.
A small, cozy textile scene rendered in dense, looped yarn — like a punch-needle or hooked-rug painting. The top half is a sky of closely packed, curly blue loops in several cool shades, each loop catching light and creating a rippling, almost windy texture. Near the center, a warm, pale yellow disc peeks up from behind a bank of woolly clouds, suggesting a low Moon setting. The clouds are made of larger, cushioned loops in soft creams and muted grays, layered so they feel voluminous and pillowy.
On the right, a couple of vertical, darker yarn shapes stand like distant trees or shrubs, their rough silhouettes contrasting with the soft horizontal bands. To the left, a darker mass of mixed brown and deep green suggests a hill or clustered foliage. The whole composition reads like a quiet, frosty landscape: cool blues and grays dominate, punctuated by the tender glow of the sun. Tactile and intimate, the piece invites you to reach out and feel the plush, looped surface while conveying a gentle, contemplative mood.
It has been created with the method of rug hooking pieces of yarn or strips of fabric in through a backing material. In this case, the backing material is burlap.
This piece was created in 2024.
The dimensions of the art is 6" x 6".
