This is an original Mixed Media artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt.
The image shows a rugged mountain landscape rendered in a soft, sketch-like style with watercolor tones and dark ink outlines. In the foreground, a calm body of water stretches across the bottom edge, tinted in pale blue and gray. Just beyond the waterline, the land rises into rocky slopes with streaks of snow clinging to the terrain.
Tall evergreen trees frame both sides of the scene, their dark green shapes adding contrast against the lighter mountains behind them. The central mountain dominates the composition, broad and layered, with craggy ridges and patches of white snow near its summit. The lines are loose and expressive, giving the whole scene a hand-drawn, almost illustrated quality rather than a strictly realistic one.
Above, the sky is light and open, with a few small, oval cloud-like marks scattered across it. The overall mood is quiet and expansive—cool, peaceful, and a little wild—like a remote alpine vista captured in an artistic, naturalistic sketch.
This work is done on watercolour paper that is then affixed to a birch panel and coated in a protective wax layer.
