This is a pottery piece created by Elizabeth Schapansky. It is part of the "Mother Earth" series.
A small handcrafted ceramic bowl, its rounded form softened by subtle imperfections that give it a handmade character. The glaze is richly mottled, blending earthy browns, smoky blues, and hints of cream and rust, creating a marbled surface that feels both rustic and expressive. The interior catches the light with a glossy finish, emphasizing the depth and variation of the glaze.
A curved handle extends from one side, making the piece feel like a hybrid between a bowl and a small cup or serving vessel. Near the handle, a tiny decorative protrusion adds to its artisanal charm. The overall impression is tactile and organic, as if the object were shaped to be both functional and beautiful, a functional object elevated into something artistic—compact, elegant, and tactile, with a surface that feels almost alive in its variation.
The work is made with high fire clay and multiple different glazes.
This work was created 2023.
The overall dimensions of the pottery are 4" Tall by 7.5" diameter.
This piece is functional and food safe.
This piece is part of the "Beauty of the Rockies" Temporary Exhibit. Come and see it in person through out the months of June and July 2026.
