This is a pottery piece created by Elizabeth Schapansky. It is part of the "Mother Earth" series.
The a handcrafted ceramic teapot or kettle with a very sculptural, artistic presence. It has a rounded, bulbous body with a glossy glaze that blends deep brown, earthy maroon, and smoky blue tones, creating a mottled, almost volcanic surface. The glaze catches the light softly, giving it a rich, reflective finish.
A woven or wrapped arched handle rises high above the pot, made of a natural tan material that contrasts strongly with the dark ceramic body. The handle gives the piece a rustic, handmade character. The spout is short and sturdy, extending from the upper side of the pot, while the lid sits neatly on top with a small rounded knob.
The base appears slightly textured and decorative, as if the clay has been shaped with a ridged or folded edge. Overall, the piece feels both functional and artistic—like a traditional teapot turned into a decorative ceramic object, full of warmth, craftsmanship, and texture.
The work is made with high fire clay and multiple different glazes.
