This is a pottery piece created by Elizabeth Schapansky. It is part of the "Mother Earth" series.
A small ceramic pitcher. It has a rounded, slightly squat shape with a wide open top and a short pouring lip at the front. The glaze is richly textured and glossy, blending earthy browns, deep charcoal, and smoky blue-gray tones that swirl across the surface like weathered stone or cooled lava. Inside, the darker interior catches the light, showing subtle circular ridges from the pottery wheel.
The handle curves smoothly from the upper rim down to the body, giving the piece a handmade, artisanal feel. Its form is compact and sturdy, yet the uneven glaze and organic color transitions make it feel warm and expressive rather than rigid. The overall look is rustic, tactile, and elegant in a quiet way—an object that feels both functional and crafted with care.
The work is made with high fire clay and multiple different glazes.
This work was created 2023.
The overall dimensions of the pottery are 4" Tall by 6" diameter.
This piece is functional and food safe.
This piece is part of the "Beauty of the Rockies" Temporary Exhibit. Come and see it in person through out the months of June and July 2026.
