This is an original pottery piece created by Lyn Anderson
A low, shallow dish sits alone, its silhouette irregular and organic — part leaf, part small clam shell. The rim rolls and dips unevenly, one side stretched out into a gentle lip, which gives the piece a hand-formed, artisanal quality. From this angle you can see how the surface collects light: glossy and metallic, not flat ceramic matte but a burnished, iridescent finish that seems to shift with the angle.
Colors mingle across the concave interior: a warm coppery-rose spreads broadly, punctuated toward the center by a pool of blue and teal that deepens into indigo at the very heart. Tiny pits and fine ridges texture the field, creating a hammered or crackled effect that catches highlights and throws soft shadows, so the sheen reads like oil on metal or a luster glaze that has been distressed on purpose. The underside and the edge register a darker, almost greenish patina, suggesting oxidation or an intended antiqued look.
Overall the object feels both decorative and tactile — something you’d want to touch to follow the ridges and feel the cool, polished surface. Its asymmetry and rich, layered finish make it evocative of natural forms: a fallen leaf with a rain pool, or a small tidepool preserved in metallic sheen.
The pottery is made with Raku clay and has gone through a raku firing process.
This piece is 16" long by 10" wide.
