This is an original Mixed Media artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt.

A stark, snow-covered mountain dominates the scene, rendered in a sketch-like watercolor style that gives it a soft, hand-painted feel. The peak rises sharply and confidently from the lower slopes, its summit bright with snow, while darker gray and charcoal tones carve out the rocky faces beneath. Long, jagged streaks of exposed stone cut through the white snowfields, creating a strong contrast that emphasizes the mountain’s rugged texture and steep angles.

The sky above is muted and atmospheric, washed in pale grays and faint hints of blue, with a cloudy, overcast mood that makes the mountain feel cold and remote. The overall composition is simple but powerful: a lone alpine giant filling the frame, quiet yet imposing, as if standing in silent weathered permanence against the sky.

This work is done on watercolour paper that is then affixed to a birch panel and coated in a protective wax layer.

Marlene created this artwork in 2026.

This artwork is 6" x 6" and is unframed.

This piece is part of the temporary exhibit "Beauty of the Rockies" Come and see it in person through the months of June and July 2026.
